Philip Johnson wrote that architecture exists only in time. It is not the design of space nor the massing or organizing of volumes. The main point is what he called “procession” — the experience of moving through a building.
ABc, Ari Burling Creative, is an architectural photography studio dedicated to this idea. Serving New York City and beyond since 1998, we work in collaboration with architectural firms and cultural institutions dedicated to the built environment.
With over 25 years of on-location experience, we employ a series of photographic approaches. Our work ranges from digital project documentation, to aerial stills and video, to large-format black-and-white film photography used for federal Historic American Buildings Survey documentation— all approached with clarity, rigor, and professional standards.
